How Anxiety Builds

June 21st, 2007 ·

Anxiety is a fairly complex state of being that encompasses three tiers of body activity – psychological, emotional, and behavioral.  All of these components recycle anxiety and produce side effects for each specific category.

The psychological issues center around your bodies learned response to certain activities.  If anxiety and panic attacks become associated with a certain task, then you mind will send you signals to avoid those situations.

Emotional effects are also developed through experiences, but on a different level.  Emotions portray a deeper association with the activity, focusing more on how you feel.  Fear is the most common emotional response to anxiety, and it can be significantly enforced through repeated episodes.

Behavioral responses are the ways you react to your anxieties.  Whether it is leaving an area or simply sitting down, behavioral reactions to anxiety are more physical in nature.  They are usually the most outward expression of your response to anxiety.

As you can see, anxiety affects us in a wide range of ways.  While many confuse anxiety disorders as strictly psychological, the fact is that there are also behavioral and emotional affects as well.  Because of this, it is important to have multi-facet treatment appraoch to anxiety disorders.  This can include medication, therapy, and modern methods like Panic Away.
